A Renowned Expert
Dr. Amelia Baldwin was highly recruited but the Neal Pendergraft Professorship of Accounting made her decision easier
Dr. Amelia Baldwin has taught accounting for more than 20 years at universities in the United States, Australia, and Thailand. With over 40 refereed articles published, she is a renowned expert in the fields of cost and managerial accounting. And in fall 2010, she will take the position of Neal Pendergraft Professor of Accounting in UAFS's College of Business.
The Professorship, made possible by a $5 million gift to UAFS in 2005 by Donnie D. Pendergraft, was a key factor in recruiting Dr. Baldwin. “We are very pleased that the Pendergraft gift has allowed the College of Business to compete successfully in today’s difficult business faculty market by attracting a teacher-scholar of Dr. Baldwin’s caliber to come to UA Fort Smith to mentor our students and serve as a role model for faculty across campus,” said Williams.
Over time, dynamic teacher-scholars like Dr. Baldwin enhance the quality of instruction across the whole University by mentoring other faculty members, launching innovative new programs, furthering research, attracting grant money, and helping recruit stronger students.
Also, highly educated and motivated people like Dr. Baldwin enrich not just the University community, but the greater Fort Smith community—as citizens, neighbors, parents, consumers, voters, and volunteers.
